I know I’m a bit late. My world has been upside down and inside out for the last month. We have been spending every moment preparing for the arrival of two little guests. My two granddaughters left yesterday.
Yes, their parents were here too, also their aunt, so we have had a very crowded, noisy, fun house for sometime now. Today it has gone from 9 people down to 1. The house is so quiet this morning that I hardly know what to do.
So today is the first day of getting back to normal for me. They say what you do on the first day of the year is what you will be doing all year long. Now, I don’t think I will be having tea parties, changing diapers and playing with babies all year so I am declaring today as my New Year day.
I decided to get some sewing in because that has been seriously put on the back burner. I worked on my “Lost Quilt”. That is what I am going to name it. It is really “Aunt Maggie’s Quilt“. Whenever I work on it I feel lost, I am determined to put this quilt behind me in 2013. I hope it doesn’t take all year, but I am prepared to let go of perfection and get this monkey put to bed.
Someone posted that even if you work on something for 5 minutes a day, you are that much closer to being done. It’s true!
I also have a wedding to go to. The young lady is a friend of my daughter’s. Her family and my family used to homeschool together. They went to youth group together, we had homeschool Olympics together, Pumpkin Festivals, and much more fun. This may seem ironic from someone who just spent a week playing with her two granddaughters, but it is hard to believe these little children are growing up.
I also have a mountain of laundry to wash and a fridge full of food and a whole lot of picking up to do. I also have my normal farm chores that have to be done.
So if my next year is filled with sewing, love and happiness, celebrations, as well as some cleaning and healthy work, (possibly some baby time too) I will be one happy camper.
Happy New Year Everyone!
Have a Quilty Day!
